New Delhi: A video from China is going viral on social media in which people can be seen carrying umbrellas to protect themselves from worms-like creatures falling from the sky.
A video from China's capital city of Beijing shows vehicles covered with worm-like creatures parked alongside roads. People were seen carrying umbrellas to protect themselves from worms falling from the sky.
According to the New York Post, while the cause of the slimy creature disaster is unknown, the animals were dropped after the strong winds.
This type of occurrence happens after a storm when insects are caught up in a whirlpool.
Another theory proposed that the worms were poplar flowers, a tulip tree with blooms that resemble the squirmy beasts.
A user said, "These are not worms or animals, but flower stalks dropped from trees.”
However, a Chinese journalist Shen Shiwei tweeted, "I’m in Beijing and this video is fake. Beijing hasn’t got rainfall these days."
