Maharashtra: A woman from Pune is in the news as she is all set to travel the world on a bike while wearing a nauvari saree. She will start her solo trip around the world from the Gateway of India.
The woman named Ramabai Latpate is an extraordinary woman who is an entrepreneur and a pilot by profession. Her flying and map-reading skills helped her decide the route while keeping in mind the climate conditions.
While talking to the media, Ramabai said that PM Narendra Modi’s words have inspired her, as he stated in a G20 speech that Indian women always perform out of the box. She mentions that the term ‘impossible’ does not exist in her dictionary.
When asked about her solo trip she said, “I love being referred to as Bharat ki Beti who is on her mission, a solo bike ride through 12 countries of G20, plus 30 other countries, a total of around 40 countries through 6 continents.”
About the trip and its Rout
She started her journey on International Women’s Day and travelled to Delhi. After that, Ramabai will drive to Australia, and the most challenging route will be the distance between Perth and Sydney, which is about 1,600 km. The area with no proper human dwellings and no mobile connectivity. During this journey, Ramabai will be on her own, and she may have to stop in the wilderness and live in a tent by herself.
From Australia to Auckland in New Zealand, Wellington, Napier, to Chile Santiago, to Colombia – Bogota, to San Diego CA in the USA, to Vancouver in Canada, to New York in the USA, and from there by sea route to London in England, to Warsaw in Poland, to Rome in Italy, to Paris in France, to Madrid in Spain, to Lisbon in Portugal, to Marrakech in Morocco, to Tunisia, and from Tunisia to Petra in Jordan by sea, to Riyadh in Saudi Arabia
It will take a year to complete this 80,000-kilometer solo bike trip around the world. She is not even afraid to travel alone in harsh weather conditions, high mountains, or on snow-covered gravel roads, and this attitude makes her more confident and strong.
When asked about the cost of this 365-day solo bike ride, this brave woman revealed that it is likely to exceed Rs 1 crore. She stated that she had already spent all of her savings and had sold her SUV and gold jewellery to make her dream come true.
Ramabai has asked for Rs 1 per person in crowdfunding because the total expenditure is likely to exceed Rs 1. She has approached elected officials as well as business communities in this regard.
Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and State Minister Girish Mahajan both congratulated Ramabai on her extraordinary solo bike ride and donated one rupee each to this herculean endeavor.
