Ace badminton player Saina Nehwal took part in the Amarnath Yatra, a pilgrimage to pay respects at the revered holy cave shrine nestled in the South Kashmir Himalayas. This shrine is home to the naturally formed ice-lingam of Lord Shiva.
According to officials, Nehwal is currently enjoying her stay at the picturesque tourist resort of Sonamarg, located in the Ganderbal district of central Kashmir. Sonamarg lies on the route to the Baltal base camp, the starting point of the yatra.

Accompanied by her mother, Usha Nehwal, the badminton star embarked on the pilgrimage on the intervening nights of Wednesday and Thursday, as confirmed by the officials.
Having paid her respects at the holy cave shrine, Nehwal expressed her feelings of immense blessings and the presence of positivity, strength, and peace of mind.
Reflecting on the experience, Nehwal stated, “We had a wonderful darshan of Amarnath ji. While people often express their desire to have darshan of Amarnath ji, I feel truly blessed to have had this opportunity alongside my mother.”

Witness divine presence, says Nehwal
Nehwal extended her gratitude to the J-K administration, the Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board (SASB), and the security forces. “This pilgrimage brings inner tranquility and a sense of serenity. It was an exceptional and comfortable experience,” expressed the former world number one. Her mother also encouraged everyone to undertake this yatra and witness the divine presence at the cave shrine.
She expressed her heartfelt appreciation to the J-K administration, the Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board (SASB), and the security forces for their support in ensuring a peaceful and comfortable pilgrimage. Nehwal’s spiritual sojourn to the holy cave shrine has undoubtedly left an indelible mark on her heart and soul.
