A recent incident onboard an American Airlines flight made headlines as a passenger got into a heated argument with a cabin crew member over the limited space in the overhead storage bins. The incident, which was captured on video and later went viral on social media, led to the passenger being removed from the plane.

In the video, the passenger, easily identifiable with his top knot hairstyle and yellow t-shirt, can be seen passionately arguing that there’s no space left in the overhead compartments. He alleges that another passenger placed their luggage above him and then took their seat, leaving him without any space for his belongings. He repeats his complaint continuously as more passengers board the plane.

Referring to a passenger seated across the aisle, who appeared to have just boarded, the man added, “He’s got no space. Look.” A male member of the cabin crew comes over to address the issue. He then asks the man to “stop.” “Sir, I’m going to ask one more time. You need to stop with this whole luggage situation,” the flight attendant said firmly.

This further angered the passenger. In an offensive tone, he said, “Don’t point at me, don’t point your finger at me. You point your finger at me one more time, and I am going to call the police.” The steward replied, “I’m not pointing a finger. You need to stop with this luggage situation. You’re going to call the police on me? OK.” He then walks away from the man.

It should be noted that although the video does not explicitly show the man being asked to disembark from the plane, an airline official can be observed inquiring of a fellow passenger if she intended to continue her journey without him, as he was seen leaving the flight.

The Reddit user who posted the video claimed that the man had used four overhead bins to store his luggage and that he appeared to be removing multiple bags as he was being escorted off the plane. The video’s description reads, “Ironically, he had like 4 big bags on the overhead bins. I left out the horrendous racist comments he made to the gentleman who put his luggage in the overhead bin.” Since its sharing, the video has received a 97 percent upvote rating.

“The finger-pointing wasn’t nearly as upsetting as his hair,” one user quipped.

Another person chimed in, “Imagine threatening a flight attendant that you’re going to call the police because they pointed their finger at you for causing an unnecessary ruckus.”

“People severely underestimate the amount of authority flight attendants have within the plane,” commented a third individual.

“Imagine being the guy responsible for the situation you’re complaining about, which ultimately leads to your ejection from the flight,” added another user.
