Uncover the viral video igniting a firestorm of controversy: a Toronto cab driver, of Pakistani descent, shocking a passenger by suggesting he'd kidnap her if they were in Pakistan. Dive into the heated debate, calls for action, and broader discussions on cultural sensitivity and women's safety.

A video featuring a Toronto cab driver, reportedly of Pakistani descent, telling a female passenger that he would have kidnapped her if they were in Pakistan has gone viral, igniting a fierce online debate and drawing varied reactions from the public.

The incident began when the driver stated, “If you were born in Pakistan, or you were in Pakistan, you must be kidnapped by now.” The shocked passenger questioned, “I would have kidnapped by you?” The driver confirmed, “Of course! Because there’s no other option to get you, right? Since you are in Canada, I cannot say anything to you, I cannot touch you.”

The conversation, which was recorded by the woman, continued with her expressing fear rather than flattery. “That is not flattery, that is kind of scary,” she said before exiting the cab.

The video quickly went viral on social media, leading to widespread condemnation and calls for action against the driver. Users expressed their outrage, with one person on twitter stating, “Arrest and deport this creepy Pakistani immigrant.” Another user wrote, “Men should just shut their mouths and drive. Don’t care if it was a miscommunication. Be quiet and get me to my destination.”

However, some defended the driver, suggesting his comments were taken out of context. “He doesn’t mean him literally. He’s saying in Pakistan drivers kidnap women because it’s not safe, but in Canada it is safe and that’s what makes it better,” one user argued.

The cab company responded swiftly, condemning the driver’s behavior and confirming an investigation. “We have a zero-tolerance policy for inappropriate conduct. The driver has been suspended pending the outcome of our investigation,” a spokesperson said.

As the debate continues, the incident highlights the need for respectful and professional conduct in all interactions and underscores ongoing concerns about women’s safety and cultural sensitivity in public services.
