Most people consider rice, roti, and vegetables essential for their daily diet. But there’s a man in Shivamogga, Karnataka, for whom “food” means something else entirely. While ordinary people cook, this man drinks bottled engine oil as if it were water. He’s “Oil Kumar” a name that’s shocking people on social media these days.
According to a viral Instagram post, Oil Kumar has been consuming only engine oil for the past three decades. He claims to drink 7 to 8 liters of engine oil daily and prefers it with tea. In the viral video, when people try to offer him normal food, he refuses and takes the oil bottle.
Most shockingly, despite drinking the toxic oil for so many years, Kumar says he’s never had to go to the hospital and is in good health. He attributes this to “Lord Ayyappa’s grace” and says that such a lifestyle wouldn’t be possible without divine grace.
However, doctors completely deny this claim. Experts say that engine oil is highly toxic and drinking it can be fatal. The toxins, hydrocarbons, and heavy metals present in it can cause serious damage to vital organs such as the liver, lungs, kidneys, and brain.
A video depicting this bizarre habit was posted on Instagram a few days ago by an account named ‘avalakki_pavalakki,’ and received mixed reactions from users.
One user wrote, “Totally nonsense, giving the wrong message to society.” Another jokingly asked, “Is he having a pollution certificate?” A third user quipped, “29cc waste engine top speed illa millage gottila.”
Oil Kumar’s story is as unique as it is worrying. While this video is going viral on social media, ignoring doctors’ warnings would be no less dangerous.
