Mumbai ‘Live-In Relationship Agreement’: In A 46-year-old man seeking pre-arrest bail in a rape case filed by his partner in Mumbai presented a “live-in relationship agreement,” which he claims includes a clause stating that neither would file sexual harassment cases against the other. The court granted him bail on August 29.

The 29-year-old woman who filed the case told the Mumbai court that the signature on the “live-in relationship agreement” was not hers. According to the police, the woman works as a caregiver for the elderly, while the accused is a government employee. The police are now investigating the validity of the claimed relationship agreement.

The woman says her partner promised to marry her and raped her multiple times while they were living together. The lawyer for the accused has described the case as fraud.

Sunil Pandey, the man’s lawyer, said, “The applicant is falsely accused and is a victim of circumstances.” They were in a live-in relationship, and the agreement they made shows that both agreed to be together. The woman signed the agreement, which confirms their mutual understanding.”

Here Are Seven Points To The “Live-In Relationship Agreement”

  1. They agreed to live together from August 1, 2024, to June 30, 2025.
  2. During this time, neither will file a sexual harassment case against the other and they will live peacefully together.
  3. The woman will stay at the man’s home, but if she finds his behavior unacceptable, she can leave with one month’s notice.
  4. The woman’s relatives are not allowed to visit while she is living with him.
  5. The woman must not cause any harassment or distress to the man.
  6. If the woman becomes pregnant during this period, the man will not be held responsible.
  7. If the woman’s actions cause significant mental trauma to the man, she will be held accountable.
