Shahabad: In a viral video circulating on social media, an incident involving a monkey in Uttar Pradesh has garnered attention. However, authorities have highlighted that the monkey’s actions were not justified, as it was responsible for stealing a significant amount of money.
The incident unfolded on Tuesday in Uttar Pradesh’s Shahabad. The monkey was captured on camera pilfering a bag containing Rs 1.5 lakh in cash from a motorcycle parked outside the registry office. The owner of the bike, Sharafat Hussain, had arrived at the office for a sale deed transaction.
The video footage reveals the monkey inspecting the bags attached to various motorcycles in the parking area near the registry office. After meticulously surveying the available options, it swiftly snatches one bag, which happens to hold Rs 1.5 lakh in cash.
Pandemonium ensued outside the office when Sharafat Hussain discovered that his money had been stolen. Regrettably, the monkey had vanished from the scene by that time.
Following extensive efforts, the monkey was eventually spotted perched on a tree. With concerted efforts from the onlookers, the bag containing the stolen money was successfully retrieved, ensuring that none of the cash was missing.
Acknowledging the prevailing monkey nuisance in Shahabad, the district administration confirmed their intention to employ a team dedicated to capturing and relocating these animals to their natural habitat in the jungle.
Anil Kumar, the Deputy District Magistrate of Shahabad, stated that their initial focus would be on mitigating the monkey menace in the areas most severely affected. Subsequently, they would extend their efforts to other regions if necessary.
Authorities are now working towards finding a balanced solution that ensures the safety of both humans and animals in the region.
