Viral: A 21-year-old woman from Sikkim, a police officer, supermodel, biker and boxer, is going viral on social media for her multiple talents. While growing up in a Rumbuk village, Eksha Kerung was introduced to combat sports but was unaware that boxing training was available in her village.
While speaking to the media, Eksha stated that her father encouraged her to pursue her dream and passion. Her father invited her to join the physical fitness class. She’s even represented Sikkim in national competitions. Her enthusiasm for biking did not deter her from learning to ride. Her father, who taught her brother how to ride one, even encouraged her to learn it.
In 2019, Eksha was hired by the Sikkim Police Department. In the interview, Eksha also stated that because Sikkim is a small state, getting a government job is extremely valuable, and she is currently the family’s sole breadwinner. She had to go through 14 months of discipline training before being transferred to the State Reserve Line.
But she also had another goal to accomplish. She desired to attend MTV’s Supermodel of the Year event. She used to promise her mother that she’d be there once. She auditioned for the second season with the encouragement and support of her peers and seniors in the department. Eksha was chosen and placed in the top nine on the show.
“Earlier I used to think, ‘Eksha, what are you doing?’ but now I feel very lucky,” Eksha told the media outlet. Both as a cop and as a model. People are crazy about me (sic).”
She also stated that she sees modelling as an extension of herself and that when Eksha is on duty, she feels proud to be a daughter of the country.
