New Delhi: Humans are wired in such a way that monetary incentives seem necessary to earn a healthy livelihood. However, there are times when these monetary benefits do not validate our life’s purpose.
One such case came to light when a techie named Santosh Kumar Mishra left his lucrative job of Rs 50 lakh and joined civil services.
Mishra was born in Patna, whose father served in the Indian Army while his mother was a homemaker. Mishra is qualified in mechanical engineering from the University of Puen and then went for a high-paying job. despite that he has worked in Europe and the United States and was earning a handsome salary of RS 50 lakh, Mishra was not satisfied.
As he decided that his current position was unable to fulfil his objectives, leaving his job he decided to return to India to pursue the UPSC dream.
Soon Mishra became one of the minor lot of aspirants who ended up cracking one of the Country’s toughest exams without any formal coaching and self-preparation.
Left dream job for UPSC
Mishra’s name appeared on the shortlist in 2012 as he had qualified for the exam in the first attempt only. he joined the Indian Police Service (IPS). he has served in different posts including Superintendent of Police in UP’s Amroha district and Gonda district.
Currently, Santosh Kumar Mishra is serving as SP (Crime) at DGP headquarters.
