A 26-year-old man from Rajasthan recently caught the internet’s attention with his success story. He shared his journey of growth after quitting a well-paying corporate job to run homestays. “Left my stable job last year to run homestays in Rajasthan. No big plan, just wanted to build something of my own and travel more,” he wrote in a post on Reddit.
The man admitted that his initial months were tough, full of doubt and uneven income, even scary at times. However, after a year of learning and hard work, his idea started to materialize. “This month, I earned ₹2.18L from Airbnb alone, and my total monthly income crossed ₹2.5L+, which is now higher than what I used to make in my corporate job (₹1.3L/month),” he said.

‘Not An Overnight Success’
He revealed that it was not an overnight success, as the journey took ‘savings, patience, slow months, and learning’ during the long and hard road. “A year ago, I was scared and uncertain, and reading posts like these helped me believe it was possible. Posting here as a milestone because a year ago I was scared and uncertain, and reading posts like these helped me believe it was possible. If anyone’s curious about hosting/starting homestays / side income ideas, happy to share whatever I’ve learned,” he added.
Internet Applauds His Grit
Many social media users reacted to his post, praising him for his courage and hard work. A user wrote, “I don’t know why, but I feel the commenters are trying to shoot down the idea of the possibility of the business venture started by OP by himself(without family support). I understand having questions and a bit of disbelief, but I don’t find the tone inquisitive.”
Another Reddit user commented, “It’s a great journey, man, I hope soon you even double this.” Meanwhile, a third user wrote, “Appreciate you sharing the detailed breakdown. These real-world numbers help a lot of people here who’re thinking of alternative income routes beyond 9-5.”
