Viral: A man from Shenzhen, China, got 365 days of paid leave during the annual official office dinner. The dinner took place in Shenzhen, Guangdong, on Sunday.
In a video that has gone viral on Chinese social media, the man is shown clutching a large cheque that reads “365 days of paid leave” and holding it. In the video, an administrative staffer named Chen is heard claiming that the fortunate draw winner repeatedly asked if the reward was legitimate.
The video was captioned, “Young guy wins 365 days of paid leave at the annual meeting.”

The reward and penalty pots were both included in the lucky draw pot. Drinking a “special homemade drink” or working as a server could be a penalty. One or two rest days or annual leaves were awarded as prizes. Only one ultimate prize of 365 days of paid leave was available.
The boss was also “stunned” that someone had won 365 days of paid leave. “(We) never imagined that this (lot) would be drawn,” Chen joked. “Hahaha, the boss was stunned.”
The annual meal was apparently postponed for three years because of the Covid-19 outbreak. The lucky draw was arranged to provide staff with some relaxation from job stress. Chen stated that the employee will be asked if he wants to cash in the reward or use his paid leave.
