In a weird case from the United Kingdom, a man received a piece of shocking news about his own life through a letter from the government stating that he had passed away.
Mark Cusack, a former Hungerford town councillor, was shocked to receive a threatening letter from the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP).
Mark was astounded to learn in the letter that he had tragically died and that without a National Insurance number, he had no way of paying his council tax.
Mark, who lives with his dog Puggles, claimed that his former employer was even informed of his death; as a result, he had to go to his doctor to obtain a note from a doctor attesting to his continued existence.
Even if it sounds absurd, convincing the government that you are alive when they mistakenly believe you are dead can be difficult. You might also be curious as to why they initially thought this was the case. Mark claimed he could see the humour in everything and that he had now obtained a note from his doctor confirming his continued survival.
As per a LADBible report, the DWP declined to comment on Mark’s allegations that he was mistakenly informed of his own death because they lacked the “information needed to look into it and see what has happened.”
