In popular culture across the globe, divorce is usually associated with painful separation for couples. While marriages are celebrated, divorces rarely are. They are supposed to be quite, sorrowful and not loud as the weddings. Divorce is usually seen as the end of a relationship, marked by grief and regret. However, for one Indian man, his divorce wasn’t the end of happiness, it was the beginning of a new chapter worth celebrating.
Maharashtra Man Throws Grand ‘Divorce’ Party
Instead of diving into the pain of separation, this man embraced closure with joy, hosting a grand celebration. The celebration featured traditional Hindu rituals, a cake-cutting ceremony, and a heartfelt farewell. Surprisingly, he gifted his former wife Rs 18 lakh in cash and 120 grams of gold, as a token of respect and goodwill.
By celebrating his divorce, this man has set an example of positively moving ahead with grace in every phase of life. He shared the celebration video on his social media platform, which quickly caught the attention of netizens. The video has sparked online discussion on divorce with people expressing their views on his action and divorce in general.
Video goes viral, Netizens react
In the viral video, the man originally from Maharashtra is seen seated on the floor while his mother performs a ‘Shudhi’ ceremony, which is a Hindu purification ritual. Following the Abhishekam act, his mother is seen pouring milk over him. This ritual symbolises a man cleansing himself of the past and embracing a new chapter as a single individual.
He then dons new clothes, a suit, fancy shoes and gets ready in style. After getting dressed, with a lively smile on his face, he cuts a chocolate cake. The message on the cake read: “Happy Divorce 120g gold 18L cash,” and the caption on video: “I’m single, happy, free my life, my rules.”
