‘Maar kyun raha hai?’ Rapido driver attacks journalist with rod over…; WATCH viral video

A journalist has alleged that a Rapido driver assaulted him with a rod after he asked the driver to stop using his phone while driving.

A troubling incident involving a Rapido cab driver has surfaced after a journalist alleged that he was attacked with a rod during a ride. The incident reportedly took place after the journalist raised safety concerns during the journey, once again bringing attention to passenger safety on ride-hailing platforms. While the exact city where the incident occurred has not been confirmed, the vehicle number plate seen in the video suggests the car is registered in Faridabad, Haryana.

Journalist alleges attack over safety concern

According to the journalist, the situation escalated after he asked the Rapido driver to stop holding his phone to his ear while driving and to keep both hands on the steering wheel. He said the request was made only from a safety point of view. The journalist also claimed that before this, the driver had nearly hit a motorcycle, which further worried him.

Sharing his account online along with the video, the journalist wrote, ‘Rapido driver assaulted with rod. Reason: I asked him to stop holding his phone to his ear in a call and put both hands on the steering wheel. Before this he’d already nearly hit a motorcycle.’ He also expressed disappointment over the company’s response, adding, ‘The real shocking thing is that there has been no response from Rapido for two days. It seems he is still on their platform.’

Video triggers public anger

The video shared by the journalist shows the driver approaching the person recording while holding a rod. Several bystanders can be heard reacting in the background. One person asks, ‘Kiski gaadi lagi hai?’ while another says, ‘Gaadi mein baith aur gadi aage kar,’ suggesting the car had stopped on the road and may have caused traffic disruption.

At another point, a man questions the driver’s behaviour, saying, ‘Maar kyu raha hai usko? Tere paise mil jayenge kya?’ The clip ends with the driver returning to the car and driving away from the spot.

The video sparked strong reactions on social media. One user commented, ‘What this driver is doing is unacceptable; strict action is necessary,’ while another wrote, ‘Stopped using Rapido after a similar experience.’ As of now, it remains unclear whether any action has been taken against the driver or if Rapido has issued an official response.
