According to astrology, during the eclipse, you should chant the name of God as much as possible. If you are singing bhajans of the Lord, then it is also good. Chanting the name of God will keep you away from all kinds of negative effects of the eclipse.

Indian Institute of Astrophysics (IIA) Niruj Mohan Ramanujam said, "We have an 8-inch automated telescope and that is computer-controlled. It can track the moon automatically... We have a camera put behind it, and my colleagues will operate it and make sure that the telescope is always on the moon. The camera is then connected through the cable to the laptop. The laptop then takes it to the command centre on top, which is mixing the live stream from all five locations in India..."

There are mixed results: finances are improving, and worries about children are easing. However, communication requires sensitivity to prevent misunderstandings. Moments of light-heartedness bring happiness.
The lunar eclipse will occur from 9:57 PM on Sunday, September 7, to 1:27 AM on Monday, September 8 (IST), as the Moon passes through Earth’s shadow. The eclipse will reach its peak at 11:42 PM. Skywatchers are encouraged not to miss this spectacular event! In India, all phases of the eclipse including totality will be visible.
Pisces may face a turbulent phase during this lunar eclipse. Financial pressures, unresolved conflicts, and hidden adversaries could surface, demanding extra vigilance. It’s wise to avoid risky travel at this time. On a positive note, the eclipse also opens a doorway for deep spiritual growth and self-discovery.
This evening’s Chandra Grahan stands out for its remarkable duration. The total eclipse is expected to last around 82 minutes, placing it among the lengthiest total lunar eclipses in recent times. During this extended period, the Moon will glow in deep red tones, giving skywatchers a rare and stunning celestial display to enjoy.
According to astrology, a lunar eclipse (Chandra Grahan) is believed to have specific effects on pregnant women. In Hindu tradition, extra precautions are often recommended during this time, as the Moon is seen as a symbol of motherhood. Although these beliefs aren't supported by scientific evidence, many people choose to follow them as a precautionary measure, prioritizing safety over potential risk.
The highly anticipated total lunar eclipse, also known as the Blood Moon, will grace the night sky on September 7–8, 2025, and will be clearly visible across India. Major cities, including Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Bengaluru, Chennai, Lucknow, Jaipur, and Bhopal, are expected to offer some of the best viewing experiences.
Sutak Kaal is a period observed before and during a solar or lunar eclipse, marked by specific spiritual and cultural practices. Traditionally, it holds deep significance for the following reasons:
- Sutak is seen as a time to step away from routine activities and focus on spiritual practices such as prayer, meditation, and chanting, fostering inner peace and mindfulness.
- It is believed that during an eclipse, cosmic energies become unstable. To maintain physical and mental purity, guidelines around food, thoughts, and actions are strictly followed.
- This year’s eclipse aligns with Pitru Paksha, a sacred time dedicated to paying homage to ancestors. As a result, rituals like Shraddha and offerings should only be performed after the Sutak period concludes, ensuring they are done at an auspicious time.

Senior planetarium engineer O.P. Gupta of Nehru Planetarium said the total lunar eclipse will reach its peak at 11:48 p.m. Sunday and last for 48 minutes. He further added that the eclipse will be visible across India, Pakistan, and China.
Today's lunar eclipse marks the second total lunar eclipse of 2025. For astronomers, both amateur and professional, Sunday’s celestial event acts as a prelude to next year’s highly anticipated total solar eclipse.
While talking to ANI, Priest Mahendra Nath said that the Lunar Eclipse will take place from 9:57 pm to 1:26 am today. "There will be a lunar eclipse from 9:57 pm to 1:26 am today. The lunar eclipse will touch down from 9:57 pm. Its liberation will be at 1:26 am. The Sutak of the lunar eclipse will begin at 12:57 pm," said Priest Mahendra Nath.
The phenomenon will start at 9:58 PM IST, peak around 11:42 PM IST, and conclude by 1:26 AM IST on September 8.
The lunar eclipse on September 7 will be the year’s second total eclipse after March, and the longest witnessed since 2022.
The Chandra Grahan 2025, occurring on September 7–8, aligns with the beginning of Pitru Paksha, signifying a spiritually significant time.
During a total lunar eclipse, Earth moves directly between the Sun and the Moon, casting its shadow over the Moon. As a result, the Moon appears to glow with a reddish tint, often referred to as the Blood Moon.
In Hindu tradition, a lunar eclipse, known as Chandra Grahan is considered an important celestial event with both spiritual and ritual significance. There are various do’s and don’ts associated with it, based on scriptures and traditional beliefs.

Astrophysicist at Queen’s University Belfast in Northern Ireland Ryan Milligan said that the red color of the moon during a lunar eclipse is caused by blue light scattering more readily in the Earth's atmosphere than red. "The Moon appears red during lunar eclipses because the only sunlight that reaches the Moon is reflected and scattered through the Earth’s atmosphere. Blue light scatters more readily than red and leaves the Moon with its typical ‘bloody glow’,” Milligan stated, according to AFP.
This will be the second total lunar eclipse this year, following the last one in March, and the longest since 2022. For the astronomers, both amateur and professional, Sunday’s event serves as a precursor to a much-anticipated total solar eclipse next year.
As if tonight's Blood Moon wasn't spectacular enough, it is the full moon eve of Pitru Paksha, a 16-day Hindu timeframe for honoring ancestors. Many people believe this Chandra Grahan (or lunar eclipse), and a partial solar eclipse occurring on September 21, is particularly meaningful spiritually speaking. The Sutak Kaal (inauspicious time) begins today at 12.19 p.m IST, thus some families are already holding prayers and performing on rituals in their homes. Temples such as the ones in Varanasi and Ayodhya are closing early after bhog and aarti tonight.
How to capture tonight's Blood? Follow these steps: shake your camera on a tripod, set your smartphone or DSLR on a long exposure - 1 to 2 seconds, and pump the ISO to 400 - 800 to see the red glow. Zoom in during the totality phase (11:00 PM - midnight 12:22 AM) to see the craters. You can even use apps like PhotoPills to structure the picture.
Watching a lunar eclipse 2025 or blood moon is safe but taking some easy precautions will enhance your enjoyment of the event. Unlike solar eclipses, a moon eclipse 2025 can be enjoyed with the naked eye, and does not require specialized eyewear. To enhance viewing, avoid city lights and light pollution, and for more detailed viewing, use a telescope or binoculars. No matter where you are viewing the chandra grahan 2025, keep children and pets safe while viewing the night sky, and if you are photographing the event, ensure your camera or smartphone is securely positioned. If bright light bothers your eyes, do not look at the moon for an extended time. When you have an opportunity to witness an exotic moment in time, do not hesitate. Always check the local lunar eclipse times in India and the grahanam timings so you don't miss a moment!
The full grahanam timing for this eclipse in September of 2025 lasts over five hours, starting at the first shadow at 8:58 p.m. and ending at 2:25 a.m. When the full moon in September of 2025 is taken into account, this show will have millions tuning in to watch.
The lunar eclipse on September 7-8 is 2.7 days prior to the moon's perigee where it is as close to Earth as it can ever be, making the moon appear slightly larger than usual. In passing through the darkest part of the shadow, the umbra, the moon is expected to become a deep, rich red.
