After a man from Karnataka accused grocery delivery app Blinkit of “threatening” him through a notification in Hindi, alleging “Hindi imposition”, internet users trolled him. Labeling him “jobless”, it said he was making a mountain out of a molehill.
It all started when Blinkit sent a notification regarding the man’s order, saying, “Suno ji! Dekho yeh order 12 minutes mein deliver ho bhi gaya” (Hello, this order was delivered in 12 minutes). Angered, he claimed the notification remained in a language that was “alien” to him and was not in Kannada.
Taken aback, the guy took to X and composed a post and shared his experience. He said he was offended by the Hindi word ‘gaya’. He clarified that in Kannada, ‘gaya’ means ‘wound.”In Hindi, he logically pointed out that ‘gaya’ means ‘gone’ or, in the past tense, ‘went.’.
Blinkit sent a harmful notification and wished me “Gaya,” which means “wound” in Kannada. I told them, if I received one more threatening notification, I would lodge a police complaint. After that they stopped sending nonsense in alien languages. That’s how we need to deal! pic.twitter.com/yPtvFdfhIV

The message from Blinkit read, ‘Wish you gaya.’ Gaya, in kannada, means ‘wound’. I warned them that if I get another such message, I would lodge a police complaint. After that, they stopped sending their nonsense messages in unfamiliar languages. That’s how we should deal with them.”

He shared screenshots of his conversation with Blinkit’s customer support that followed the notification in his now-viral post.
The customer accused the company of “threatening a loyal customer”, telling Blinkit support, “You sent me a threat message in an alien language. I’m scared. Next, I will file a police complaint if I continue to receive messages that I cannot read and understand.”
Finally, the support of Blinkit wrote back to the man, explaining this was a simple notification message sent to the customer. “These messages are not threats, sir,” replied Blinkit.
The man insisted that such texts should be in Kannada instead and requested that his complaint not be met with “robot-generated messages.”
In another post, he said that he had been only getting English notifications for the past month since he complained: “Since lodging my complaint, I’ve noticed for over a month now they’re only sending notifications in English. No more nonsense in alien languages. If more people complain, they will also introduce Kannada.”
