In a rare and emotional moment, a couple in Rajasthan’s Jodhpur got married during a total blackout on Thursday night. Rising tensions between India and Pakistan led to sudden power cuts in border areas.
The power went out at 9:30 PM, almost three hours earlier than the planned midnight blackout, following a surprise order by the District Collector. This decision came after, Pakistan triggered the latest round of tensions by launching drones and firing missiles at key Indian targets. In response, Indian air defence teams swiftly intercepted the threats across Jammu and Kashmir, Udhampur, and Jaisalmer, with locals witnessing loud explosions in the skies during the interceptions.
Security has been increased in many border states, and blackouts are being used as a precaution to reduce visibility for any possible drone or air attacks from across the border.
Bride and Groom Take Vows Without Lights
Even with no electricity, the wedding did not stop. The bride and groom continued with the traditional ‘saat phere’ (seven vows) in complete darkness. Guests used mobile flashlights to light the area, and the couple calmly completed their rituals.
A video of the momemt quickly went viral on social media, with people praising the couple’s strenght and the power of love even in difficult times.
