Racheal Kaur flies from one city to another every day for work. This helps her be with her children in the evening and costs less than renting a house.
The story of a mother who takes a far more unusual route to reach office has gone viral. Too many people travel to work by car, bus, metro, or taxi to reach their offices on time every morning, but one Indian-origin woman, who is also a mother of two, has a very different way of commuting, she takes a flight every day!
While most people find long travel tiring, her journey is even longer, crossing different states. She takes a flight five days a week, not for a holiday or a business trip, but just to go to work.
Racheal Kaur’s daily Routine
Kaur wakes up at 4 am, leaves for the airport by 5 am, and takes a flight at 5:55 am from Penang to Kuala Lumpur. She reaches her office by 7:45 am and gets back home by 8:00 pm. Every night, she makes sure to spend time with her two children, who are 12 and 11 years old. According to Google Maps, the distance she covers daily (to and fro) is around 700 km. Despite flying five days a week, Kaur claimed that her expenses had decreased.
In an interview with CNA Insider kaur said that “With them growing, I feel the need for the mother to be around more often. With this arrangement, I’m able to go home every day. I’m able to see them at night and help out with any last-minute homework,”
Before, Kaur rented a home in Kuala Lumpur near her office and went back to Penang, a state in Malaysia, only once a week. But being away from her children so often made it hard to manage both work and family, she said in the interview.

During her flights, Kaur enjoys some “me time” by listening to music and looking at nature. After landing, she walks for 5 to 10 minutes to reach her office.
She likes working in the office instead of at home because being around her coworkers helps her finish her work more easily.
She also mentioned that “Being surrounded by people makes it easier to get things done. You’re able to communicate with people face-to-face,”
She even said that when she is at the office, she stays fully focused on work, and when she returns home, she is completely dedicated to her family.
Air Asia has been very cooperative of this arrangement as it helps her to maintain healthy work-life balance.
However, she accepted that waking up early is bit challenging, but the moment she returns home after work and see’s her kids, all her tiredness goes away.
Inspite of all the chanllenges, Racheal stays commited to her work, She also mentioned that when people hear about her daily schedule, many call her “crazy”.
