India has time and again made place in the headlines for unbelievable Guinness World Records, be it the record of Sidakdeep Singh Chahal having the longest hair on a teenager or Jyoti Amge being recognized as the shortest woman living. And this time too, another Indian drew international attention with an unbelievable feat. Tapala Nadamuni, a 23-year-old student, has entered a new record for developing the world’s smallest vacuum cleaner.
Smallest Vacuum Cleaner In The World
The vacuum cleaner made by Tapala Nadamuni measures 0.65 cm (0.25 inches) in size. To put that into perspective, it is even smaller than the width of an average pinkie fingernail. This incredible accomplishment topped the previous record, which was set at 0.85 cm in 2022. The record is based on the shortest axis of the body of the vacuum cleaner, with the handle and power cord not included in the measurement.
A Surprise Journey Of Vacuum Cleaner
Nadamuni held the record back in 2020 with a vacuum cleaner of length 1.76 cm. But since his record had been broken, he was on the goal to regain it. Though there were two failed attempts in the last two years, Nadamuni was not irritated. His persistence earned him success with the new design of a vacuum cleaner.
The journey of Nadamuni involved a lot of planning and ingenuity. He had to draw more than 50 schematic diagrams to meet the high standards set by Guinness World Records. He says, ‘My students and faculty members were astonished about my creation and told me that this was most beautiful creation they have ever seen.’
Overcoming Challenges
First, there were numerous problems that were faced by Nadamuni with the suction power of his small vacuum cleaner. He had to strive really hard to develop good suction inside such a small device. Only after repeated trial and error, along with multiple design changes, was he able to enhance the efficiency of the vacuum .
Construction And Design
The small vacuum cleaner is made mainly from a refillable ballpoint pen, besides some plastic and metal. A small rotary fan inside the contraption is run by a four-volt vibration motor to effect the suction. The entire contraption cost around Rs 20,000.
How It Works
It operates on being hooked up with a source of power. On being powered, the whirring device sucks dust particles remarkably well. The collected dirt is considerably easy to empty out of the vacuum cleaner and hence this piece of technology though tiny in size, works just fine.
Tapala Nadamuni’s Achievement
Tapala Nadamuni’s achievement not only speaks volumes about his innovative spirit, but also brings a feather in the cap for India. His new design along with determination to beat the previous record, showcases an immense amount of creativity and determination in his journey. This record vacuum cleaner goes on to prove that even small creations may make big things possible.
