Indian YouTuber Nalini Unagar has announced her decision to quit the social media platform, YouTube, following dissatisfaction with the algorithm and lack of satisfactory returns. Nalini took to her X handle and shared the decision on Wednesday. She wrote, “I failed in my YouTube career, so I’m selling all my kitchen accessories and studio equipment. If anyone is interested in buying, please let me know.”
In a series of posts, she shared her disappointment over the lack of returns on her significant investment. According to Nalini, she had invested approximately Rs 8 lakh in her YouTube channel but got no return. She wrote, “Let me confess today—I have invested approximately ₹8 lakhs in my YouTube channel for building a kitchen, buying studio equipment, and promotions. The return? ₹0.”

Nalini further added that she had dedicated three years to YouTube and created over 250 videos.
Despite noticeable work, she didn’t get the response she wanted and therefore has decided to delete all her content and stop making videos.
Why Did She Quit?
She added, “I’m overwhelmed by your suggestion not to quit YouTube. Let me remind you—I dedicated 3 years to YouTube, creating over 250 videos. However, I didn’t get the response I had hoped for, so I’ve finally decided to stop making videos and have deleted all my content from the platform. Online platforms require a bit of luck too, so it’s wise not to rely on them as a primary source of income. Your “shop” can shut down before you even wake up the next day.”
Nalini used to run two channels: Food Facts By Nalini which has over 11k subscribers and Nalini’s Kitchen Recipe with over 2.42k subscribers.
With YouTube, You Don’t Get Anything
Several users asked her about the deletion of content, to which Nalini replied that with YouTube, one doesn’t get anything. Nalini said, “I think trying for three years is enough. If it were a local business, I could have earned something in return, even a small amount. But with YouTube, you don’t get anything, even after spending so much time.”
Netizens React
Despite her announcement to quit YouTube and making videos, netizens motivated her to not give up and making videos. A user wrote, “Don’t give up…Work again and note where you were did mistake last time work on it.” Another user added, “It’s really sad to know that your efforts didn’t bear fruits. Selling will be the last option for you and it will be really sad moment for you. If possible try to run it and restart it in different way and try to find out what went wrong so that this time you can succeed.”
Nalini on Thursday shared on X, “I just got a call from my friend, and she told me, “I saw many news articles about you; you should reupload your videos again. I replied, “People have short memories; they’ll forget you the next day. I’ve thought a lot about it and made the final decision to shut down the channels. There’s something better out there for me.”
