Online facilities have definitely added to our comfort. From food delivery to grocery within 10 minutes and getting our own parcels delivered by ‘genie’, these services have made the lives of customers way easier. But a recent claim made by a Hyderabad woman suggests that consumers need to be conscious while using all these services available to us.
As per her LinkedIn post, a customer Nishitha Gudipudi has raised a flag against the theft of Swiggy genie. In her post, she wrote that her husband booked Swiggy Genie a few days back to pick up his backpack from one office to another.
Genie picked up parcel and…
The delivery agent picked up the parcel, she assumed that in the middle of the way, he opened it and got to know about the laptop inside the bag after which he couldn’t be tracked as his phone was switched off. She claimed that when they contacted Swiggy’s customer care service, they couldn’t identify their own agent and shared pictures of two to identify the guy.
Misguide, ransom, bad experiences
The couple came across the scariest part when they managed to contact the agent later on via a WhatsApp call and he refuted the allegations stating that the number was used by his friend. They later received a message asking for a ransom of Rs. 15,000 if they wanted their device to be returned.
The woman in her post admits that they shouldn’t have taken Genie’s help for picking something as important and pricy as a laptop but she took up the matter to question the sincerity of the service provided by Swiggy.

Reactions have poured from all the corners questioning her stance and ‘carelessness’ while using genie service to lift the company’s laptop. Other reactions have mentioned the similar incidents they came across in their lives.
