While shopping at Reliance Digital, a salesman caught the attention of the CEO of Unstop who was visiting the store. Ankit Aggarwal visited the electronic store to buy a printer but ended up discovering an excellent potential candidate, this unusual recruitment tale published on LinkedIn has become viral.
Mr Aggarwal narrated his experience on LinkedIn of recruiting a new employee during a printer purchase at Reliance Digital. “I hired someone while buying a printer! Sandeep at Reliance Digital assisted me with my purchase. As we chatted, he mentioned that he was upskilling to become a front-end developer-learning, improving, and actively seeking opportunities.”
The determination of Sandeep impressed Mr. Aggarwal so he decided to conduct an immediate evaluation of his capabilities. “I saw potential and said, ‘Build a small app for us as an assignment.’ No formal applications, just a real chance to showcase his abilities,” he wrote.
He accepted the assignment and then did massive effort to finish the project successfully. The dedication and successful work of Sandeep led Mr. Aggarwal to hire him as a team member for Unstop. “It wasn’t planned, and it wasn’t a recruitment drive. It was just a casual conversation that turned into an opportunity,” he noted.
