Kashmir: A conman named Kiran Bhai Patel from Gujrat managed to arrange Z-plus security cover, a bulletproof Mahindra Scorpio SUV, and official accommodation at a five-star hotel for a ride during his visit to Jammu and Kashmir. Mr Patel pretends as a senior official from the Prime Minister’s Office. He even attended a series of meetings with officials in Srinagar earlier this year.
Patel, who emerged as additional director of strategy and campaigns in the Prime Minister’s Office, was arrested at least 10 days ago, but the police covered up his arrest. Details of his arrest were released Thursday after a judge committed him to court. It is unclear whether the FIR was filed on the same day he was arrested or there was a delay in filing it.
About Patel
Mr Patel was verified by Twitter and has over a thousand followers including BJP Gujarat General Secretary Pradipsinh Vaghela. Early he shared several videos and pictures of his official visit in Kashmir.
In his Twitter post, he claims to have a PhD from Virginia Commonwealth University, an MBA from IIM Trichy, and a degree in Computer Science and a B.E. in computer technology. Patel continued to describe himself as a “thinker, strategist, analyst and campaign manager.”

He is seen walking through the snow along with paramilitary guards in Budgam’s Doodhpathri. He also saw Patel come under suspicion when he arrived in Srinagar on his second visit in two weeks. Sources said an IAS officer, who is a district magistrate, informed the police about the visit of a “senior PMO official” last month.
After his background verification police arrested him from the hotel in Srinagar.
Sources say that a case has been filed against two police officials as the fraudster was not caught in time. A Gujarat police team was also involved in the investigations.
