Instead of just complaining about it, one person took action when his partner’s bags went missing despite numerous attempts to contact the airlines. Pieter Levels, a tech entrepreneur, created Luggage Losers, a website that ranks airlines based on the number of reported lost items. The website is now live and includes Indian airlines like Air India and SpiceJet among those with the highest number of complaints. Pieter Levels got the idea for the website after his girlfriend lost her suitcase due to mishandling by Spain’s Vueling Airlines.
The millionaire posted on X (formerly Twitter), explaining the situation: “Vueling lost my girlfriend’s suitcase from Lisbon to Barcelona about 7 days ago. Then we flew on to Austin, and they sent the suitcase there 4 days ago. It’s at Austin airport, our Airtag shows it, and we’re also in Austin. They promised to deliver it to the hotel for the past 4 days but haven’t. It’s frustrating, just like our experience in Barcelona where they had the suitcase at the airport, we could see it, but they never contacted us to deliver it to the hotel. I guess the lesson here is, flying with Vueling is a hassle.”

Created a website after the incident happened with his Girlfriend
In a tweet, Pieter Levels announced, “I created a new website called LuggageLosers.com. It shows real-time rankings of airlines based on how much luggage they are currently losing. This way, you can choose airlines to avoid (and hopefully encourage improvement).”
In response to the post, one user commented, “This type of caring deserves its own term.” Another person shared, “Air France misplaced my bags twice during a single trip.” A different comment expressed, “I’m always worried about losing my luggage.”
According to his website, Air India has the most reported cases of lost luggage, with Canada’s WestJet Airlines, Ireland’s Aer Lingus, UK’s British Airways, and Spain’s Iberia following closely behind.
Pieter Levels clarified on his website that the site uses automated tools to regularly scan the internet for posts about lost luggage and the airlines mentioned in them. These tools cover more than 100 languages. The website compares this data with official reports on lost luggage to estimate the frequency of luggage losses.
