Ahead of the 78th Independence Day, 50 year old Pani Puri vendor named Meghaverth Chiranjeevi from Tenali recieves Presidents’ ‘At Home’ invite to Rashtrapati Bhawan.
A few weeks ago, Chiranjeevi got a call which he dismissed thinking it was a prank call, but was later stunned when the officials handed him the invitation personally on August 1. An overwhelmed Chiranjeevi told media that he was very nervous and in disbelief until his wife and family members calmed him down. He said that he felt honored but knew little about the protocols, languages and customs there.
Impact of Chiranjeevi’s Entrepreneurial Spirit
Chiranjeevi has been running his pani puri shop for 15 years now, diligently repaying loans of Rs.10,000, Rs.20,000 and Rs.50,000 respectively under Pradhan Mantri Svanidhi Yojana. He has exemplified entrepreneurial spirit and dedication through digital payments.
‘At Home’ invitation by the President has set new ground by recognizing ordinary people like Chiranjeevi & their achievements in various fields, earlier reserved for only dignitaries.
