In a strange twist of events, the man who had been accused of shooting and killing more than 20 stray dogs in Kumawas village, Jhunjhunu, Rajasthan, received a hero’s welcome after being released on bail.
Shyochand Bavaria, the accused man returned to his village, with DJ music, garlands and laddus on Friday. In a viral video, the man accused of killing the dogs, was being paraded around the village in a pickup truck and greeted the villagers with folded hands.

Animal Lovers React With Shock And Fury
In response to the video being circulated on social media, animal lovers and activists wasted no time in declaring outrage. Countless referred to the event as a “glorification of crime,” and cautioned that if it was a celebration, it could only serve to promote and justify the lawlessness.
One social media user wrote: “Today the killer of dogs is a celebrity; tomorrow, will the killer of human beings also be honored like this?”
Activists Call It A Mockery Of Law And Justice
Animal welfare groups in Jhunjhunu condemned the event, noting the government spends crores on animal welfare and killing animals is a serious crime. “Honoring an accused like this is a mockery of both law and justice,” they said.
Former Sarpanch Demands Police Action
Saroj Jhanjhadia, a former sarpanch of a nearby village, and the complainant in this case, was shocked by the celebration. “This welcome by villagers is surprising. I will meet the superintendent of police on Monday and demand action against such glorification of an accused,” Jhanjhadia stated.
Background Case
The accused, Shyochand Bavaria, had allegedly shot around 25 stray dogs in Kumawas village on August 2. A disturbing video of the act surfaced online on August 4, leading to his arrest.
