In a bizarre observation, a rare frog has been spotted with its eyes in its mouth. As per a report by Aajtak, in the year 1992, a rare frog was found in the Ontario area of Canada. The frog was first seen in Blingerton County. A similar frog was seen in the county. Due to a different genetic makeup, the frog had its eyes in its mouth rather than on its head.
The frog was first photographed by Scott Gardner when he first saw it. Due to the genetic issue, the frog could only see when it opened its mouth. While the vision of a frog with such a deformity seemed a bit unusual, it was a profound observation in terms of science and development.
The Genetic Mishap That Could Have Led to This Deformity
Scientists highlighted that this deformity likely occurred due to the presence of a rare genetic mutation known as macromutation. In certain cases, a specific mutation develops in the gene makeup of reptiles that can lead to such abnormalities. In the case of the rare frog, the development of its head must have been stunted by the presence of this mutation, and hence its eyes developed inside its mouth rather than on the top of its head.
