Gwalior: A elderly man who suffered a leg injury was dragged onto the floor with the help of a piece of cloth as there was no stretcher available in the hospital in Madhya Pradesh’s Gwalior. It was a 1,000-bed hospital and still no stretcher for patients.
In the video, the man can be seen as one of his relatives pulling a white bedsheet at Jayarogya government hospital. Patients completed and said there was no stretcher available in the hospital which was built at the cost of Rs 400 crore.
“He fell off a bike,” the man’s relative explained, pointing to the plastered foot. The two claimed to be from the Bhind district, about 70 kilometres from Gwalior.
Shrikishan Ojha, 65, was referred to the trauma department by the orthopaedic department. His daughter-in-law went in search of a stretcher but found none. She later saw two stretchers with no wheels.
She then dragged her father-in-law to the main door, where they took an autorickshaw to the trauma care department. Many patients have complained that, while there are stretchers, the majority do not have working wheels.
The hospital’s officials stated that they are investigating the situation.
