New Delhi: In a bewildering twist of events, a serene yoga class turned into an unexpected spectacle in Chapel St Leonards, Lincolnshire, as local dog walkers, while out for their evening strolls, unwittingly mistook a group meditation exercise for a “ritual mass murder.” The peculiar incident unfolded when these vigilant observers reported their concerns to the authorities, sparking a frenzy of police activity.

Shavasana serenity turns into suspense at North Sea Observatory

The tranquility of a yoga class taking place at the North Sea Observatory was abruptly shattered when police officers rushed to the scene after receiving reports of a potential large-scale criminal incident. What had caused this alarming misunderstanding? It was none other than the yoga practitioners engaged in the Shavasana, or Corpse Pose, stage of their class.

Lincolnshire lapse: Police respond to concerns with a twist of relaxation

After a thorough investigation, it was revealed that the seemingly suspicious group of individuals had been peacefully lying on their backs with closed eyes, fully immersed in the relaxation phase of the class. Lincolnshire Police, in a statement, confirmed that all participants were safe and in good health, acknowledging that the initial call had been made with well-intentioned concerns.

Yoga teacher’s lighthearted response to ‘mass murder’ misconception

Millie Laws, a 22-year-old yoga teacher, expressed her initial disbelief at being associated with a “mass murderer.” She shared her experience, recounting that she was instructing a class of seven students at the Seascape Cafe within the building. During the Shavasana phase, she noticed two dog walkers curiously peering through the cafe’s glass window.

“They’re [students] lying down with blankets over them; their eyes are closed. It’s very dark in there. I just had candles and little tea lights lit the whole room, and I was just walking around playing my drum. I had a nice floaty top on with large bell sleeves,” she explained.

Millie Laws went on, “There was a couple with a few dogs who approached the window, glanced inside, and then hurriedly walked away. At that moment, I didn’t pay much attention to it. It was only after we had left that I learned these individuals had called in and reported what they saw. According to them, there was someone in a robe walking over people, and it appeared to be some sort of ritual. They even believed that the individuals on the ground were deceased.”

She humorously concluded, “I guess from the outside view it could look like that, because they’re all really still, very nice, and relaxed. I’m sure their imagination was running wild with what was going on.”

In a comical turn of events, this incident serves as a reminder that sometimes even the most peaceful activities can be misconstrued when viewed from an unexpected perspective.
