Conjoined twins have recently addressed pressing questions about their sex lives, disclosing that one identifies as straight while the other identifies as a lesbian. However, they have firmly declined to engage in sexual relations with anyone.

Using the names Mia and Lia for privacy, the 19-year-old sisters took to Reddit to share their sexual orientations and explain their approach to sex, with one attracted to men and the other to women.
Mia and Lia acknowledged that they chose to share their story following the revelation that conjoined twin Abby Hensel had secretly married boyfriend Josh Bowling, 33, in 2021.
During the AMA (Ask Me Anything) subreddit session, Mia and Lia answered questions online, discussing their sexual experiences and explaining why they have stopped masturbating due to it feeling ‘uncomfortable’ for them.
The post began with the twins disclosing that they shared the ‘same vagina.’
‘It started with some background info! We go by Mia and Lia (pseudonyms, but close to our real names),’ the post explained.
What did the twins say about their sex lives?
‘We are 19 years old and joined at the abdomen, with two separate brains, two hearts, approximately four lungs (our left and right lungs are somewhat fused, resembling a 3rd lung more than a 4th), two livers, two stomachs, and below that, we share our intestines, bladder, and reproductive system.
‘Yes, we share the same vagina! Each of us can control one arm and leg, respectively.’
The twins then detailed how their bodies formed and which of them possessed greater strengths.
The post continued: ‘My body has compressed Lia’s lungs, and in addition to that, she has severe scoliosis in her spine.’
It was also disclosed that Mia was the author of the post.
Following this, the sisters delved into their sexualities before inviting a range of questions from strangers.
The post stated, ‘Yes, I identify as a lesbian, while Lia identifies as straight. I had a girlfriend, but we broke up when I started university, and Lia had a long-distance boyfriend during our teenage years.’
The sisters then mentioned that they were sharing their lives online to allow people on the web to ask them questions instead of bothering other conjoined twins who hadn’t given permission.
They talk about discomfort
The discussion first focused on masturbation, a topic the twins described as ‘uncomfortable.’
When a user asked how often the sisters had engaged in self-pleasure, they promptly responded by saying, ‘We have masturbated in the past, but we’ve agreed not to do it as it was too uncomfortable for us.’
Another online user inquired whether masturbating felt like ‘incest’ to the twins. Although they didn’t consider it incestuous, the sisters admitted that it did feel bothersome.
They responded, ‘Regarding masturbation, it wasn’t that it felt like incest; it was more like this: imagine someone touching your shoulder constantly. It would be pretty annoying and strange, wouldn’t it? That’s what it’s like when Lia touches our vagina; it feels like someone interfering with your body.’
People on the social media platform continued to ask questions about sex to the twins, including whether they both felt arousal since they shared the same vagina.
She explained, “On the arousal part, sort of? Arousal involves complex hormonal communication between the brain and the genitals, so if you aren’t the one getting aroused, you can still detect genital arousal without feeling aroused yourself. It’s similar to other things; I can tell when she’s hungry or anxious even if I’m not experiencing those feelings myself.”
Conjoined Twins answer the questions asked by people
The sisters acknowledged that despite having their own sexual orientations, they made a decision from a very young age not to engage in sexual activity with anyone due to the risks associated with pregnancy.
Someone asked, “So do you two discuss if you plan to have anything physical happen with a partner?”
They replied, “While both my sister and I experience sexual urges and arousal, we decided early on not to have sex because it would be 1. very uncomfortable for us and 2. the risk of pregnancy is too great. If we got pregnant, there’s a good chance we would die.”
They mentioned, “However, we will still be intimate with our partners. I would kiss, hug, and cuddle with my girlfriend. Luckily, she was asexual, so it wasn’t an issue for us.”
They clarified, “But, this is just what works for us. Other conjoined twins, like Abby and Brittany, may have more or less intimate interactions. Typically, yes, having sex with your sibling is strange, but being conjoined twins provides a completely different experience. What works for them is good.”
Their no-sex rule extended to all forms of sex, including oral sex.
“I highly doubt she or I will ever give oral,” Mia said in the thread.
