Birmingham: The 22nd edition of Commonwealth Games 2022 has kicked off with more than 3000 athletes participating in over 500 events. Indian contingent have also stepped in the competition with confidence. On day 1 of the tournament, Indian women cricket team, PV Sindhu, Manika Batra and others will fight for their chances at the medals. Women’s Singles Sectional Play Round 1: Dee Hoggan from Scotland wins overs India’s Taniya Choudhary by 21-10.

Women’s Singles Section B Round 2: Tania Choudhury loses 20-21 to Daphne Arthur-Almond of Falkland Islands
Men’s Triples Section A Round 2: India lose 12-19 to Scotland
Tennis
Women’s Table Tennis (Team): India best South Africa 3-0
Aquatics:
Men’s 400m Freestyle Heat 3: Kushagra Rawat – Eliminated, finishes 8th (14th overall)
Men’s 50m Butterfly Heat 6: Sajan Prakash finishes 8th with a time of 25.01 seconds and 24th overall and misses a place in the semifinals with only the top 16 progressing.
100m backstroke Heat 4: Srihari Nataraj has finished third. He had managed a time of 54.68s and is through to the semifinals.
