The Vande Bharat Express has run into controversy after a live cockroach was found in the meal served on the train. The shocking incident occurred on August 19, when Ricky Jeswani traveled with his family from Shirdi to Mumbai in coach C3. They ordered dinner and when they stirred the dal, there was a live cockroach. Jeswani took photos and videos of the undesirable finds and shared them on social media, after which they went viral on the internet.
Jeswani posted pictures of the pantry of the train, which seemed pretty dirty, raising questions about how clean the train was.
On this incident, the Indian Railways has taken cognizance of the matter, accepted the fault, and ordered a probe. They clarified that for them, passengers’ safety and comfort are at the top line and that such incidents are intolerable.

Cleanliness Concerns In Vande Bharat
The incident has highlighted serious concerns over cleanliness in Indian Railways. Vande Bharat Express is being touted as a premium train service, but this act indicates that much more needs to be done concerning hygiene and cleanliness.
Steps Needed
Stronger steps on the part of Indian Railways are required to see that such incidents do not recur. The cleaning staff needs to be properly trained, and there have to be regular inspections regarding cleanliness and hygiene standards. These are very important if the reputation of the Vande Bharat Express is to be upheld and every journey for all passengers is to be a safe and pleasant one.
