The company accidentally paid a man in Chile 286 times his salary in May. When the company realized the mistake, the employee assured his boss that he would return the excess amount.

Instead, the man resigned and absconded with the money. Media reports indicate that he was employed at Consorcio Industrial de Alimentos (Cial), one of Chile’s largest producers of cold cuts.

In May, the company mistakenly transferred approximately Rs 1.42 crore (165,398,851 Chilean pesos) to the employee instead of his monthly salary of Rs 43,000 (500,000 pesos). Upon reviewing their records, the company’s management discovered the error.

After realizing that the employee had received approximately 286 times his monthly salary, the company reached out to him. Allegedly, the man agreed to visit his bank and initiate the refund of the excess amount.

However, when the company did not receive the amount back from the employee, they attempted to contact the man for an update. Despite their efforts, there was no communication. Later, the man contacted the company, indicating his intention to visit the bank soon. However, on June 2, he submitted his resignation.

Recent reports now indicate that the man has disappeared. To recover their money, the company contacted officials and initiated legal action against the employee.
