There is a place in the world where the mother is present in the room of the daughter and son-in-law on their first night together. If she is not present, an elderly woman is sent in her place.

Africa is the name of a country filled with strange beliefs. From marriage to death, the rituals practised here are strange and deplorable. In some provinces here, after marriage, the girl’s mother sleeps with her in the honeymoon room. Whereas traditions change over time, people here still adhere to the old beliefs. Many tribes have different customs for different stages of life.
Mother is present with son-in-law and daughter on first night
In this tradition, when a husband and wife spend their first night as husband and wife, their mother is present in their room. That is, the mother-in-mother-in-law law’s sleeps in the room on the day of the honeymoon. If she is not present, an elderly woman is dispatched. The mother or an elderly woman is said to teach the couple about a happy married life on the first night. She informs the bride of her evening plans.
The next morning, the woman in the couple’s room informs the family members that everything went well during the night. The newlywed couple is off to a good start in their marriage. People are happy after that. In some African tribes, the parents sleep first on the newlywed couple’s bed. They then go to bed.
