A mysterious creature has been found in the caves of Thailand, surprising the biological fraternity. It could mark the beginning of a new chapter in biodiversity. Researchers formally announced that they have discovered two millipedes with spicules that were never seen before.
The findings have sparked curiosity among scientists about their origin and raised new questions in heredity. The caves of Thailand have long been a locus for mysterious species on the planet, but only a few have ever been revealed to the world.
Now, researchers have described two new species that attract attention for their shiny color, skeletal structure, and distinctive spines. These creatures were found in northern Thailand, in limestone caves known for their unique characteristics and unusual conditions.
According to researchers, these creatures have developed extraordinary features and are native to the country, found exclusively in subterranean regions.
As per a report published by The Times of India, the creature named Desmoxytes chaofa, or the Princess Dragon Millipede which has a spiky, and dragon-like body with elongated legs.
The term ‘chaofa’ means ‘royal princess’ in Thai, used as a mark of respect for Maha Chakri Sirindhorn for her dedication to environmental conservation.
