A 25-year-old man from Sirauli, Bareilly, was saved by the local police after he climbed up to the roof of a two-storey house and threatened to jump to his death due to constant humiliation. The dramatic five-hour rescue mission took place on Sunday, May 25.
A man named Gurudev was mocked and called “mad” by villagers and even relatives, because they couldn’t accept that someone like Gurudev could marry someone who was “model-like” and had a “Miss Universe-type attitude”.
Mocked For Marrying A Beautiful Woman
Gurudev was married around a month ago, but when it came to celebrating the recent wedding with friends, Gurudev was instead faced with taunts, jokes, and degrading comments about how a man like him could marry such a woman.
“They kept saying stuff like, ‘How did you marry such a girl?’ It was no longer light-hearted teasing, but character destruction,” local villager Dainik Bhaskar.
Gurudev, mentally stressed from the non-stop teasing, ultimately lost it and climbed up onto a nearby roof and threatened to jump.

How Did Gurudev Get Rescued?
On May 25 at around 4.00 pm, the police were notified. Officers from Police Station Sirauli secured the area as they arrived. Tarpaulin, mattresses and nets were set to break a possible fall as the officers and villagers were trying to give Gurudev direction to step down.
“After about three-four hours of hard work, the Police Station Sirauli set up a rescue setup… With the help of Police Station Sirauli and the public, Gurudev was brought down safely,” the Bareilly Police wrote on X (formerly Twitter).
