Assam: A bride from Assam’s Nalbari district called off her wedding as the groom arrived at the venue drunk. In the video, the groom can be seen dazed and struggling to perform rituals. The groom was identified as Prasenjit Haloi, a resident of Nalbari town.
In the video, the groom can be seen sleeping while the rituals are performed; even when the pandit tried to tell him the rituals, the groom couldn’t recite them.
Following the incident, the bride’s family filed a complaint against the groom’s side and demanded compensation for the wedding. In the statement, the bride’s family said that not just the groom but his family members were also in an inebriated state.
One of the family members from the bride’s side, said, “The wedding was going well. We did all the rituals. The groom couldn’t even get down from the car properly. The father was even more drunk.”
They added, “When the situation escalated, the girl decided to not sit at the wedding. We tried to request the groom’s side but 95% were drunk and their women were provoking us. We contacted the Goan Bhurha and alerted the police.”
