Despite her claims of no involvement, the scam escalated quickly as the caller transferred her to individuals pretending to be from law enforcement agencies.

They falsely accused her of being involved in serious crimes, threatening her with arrest, and claiming that criminals were watching her home.

The fraudsters forced her into installing Skype and other apps to monitor her every move.

They continued to pressure her for money, even producing fake documents to convince her that her assets needed to be verified by the Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU).

The victim, fearing for her family's safety, handed over details of her bank accounts and made 187 transactions, totaling Rs 31.83 crore.

The scam continued until March 2025, when the fraudsters suddenly disappeared, leaving the woman devastated and broke. She reported the incident after her son’s wedding in June 2025.

What Did Police Say?

Police have initiated an investigation into the scam, but so far, the criminals remain unidentified.

Social Media In Disbelief

Many are calling for stricter penalties for cyber criminals and a crackdown on such scams, while others are urging the government to take action against those behind this 'Digital Arrest' Scam.
