Sabarimala Temple: The Lord Ayyappa temple at Sabarimala, Kerala, will open on Wednesday, one day before the start of the two-month pilgrimage season. On November 17, the annual Mandalam-Makaravilakku pilgrimage season begins.

Outgoing head priest N Parameswaran Namboothiri will open the temple’s sanctuary sanctorum at 5 p.m. on November 16 in the presence of chief priest (Tantri) Kandararu Rajeevaru.

After that, freshly appointed head priests of the Lord Ayyappa and Malikappuram temples will take charge for the next year of poojas. On December 27, the 41-day Mandala puja celebration will come to an end.

On January 14, 2023, the temple will reopen for the Makaravilakku pilgrimage. The pilgrim season will end on January 20 when the shrine closes.

Thousands of devotees are anticipated to participate this year, according to officials, because it is the first pilgrim season since the COVID-19 limitations were lifted two years ago. They stated that elaborate security procedures are in place to ensure the festival’s seamless operation.
