New Delhi: The current monsoon season has brought varying degrees of rain to several states including Punjab, Jharkhand, Sikkim, West Bengal’s Sub-Himalayan region, Assam, Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand. While some areas can expect light to moderate showers, heavy rainfall is predicted in specific locations.

Rainfall anticipated in parts of north India 

Regions such as Northern Punjab, Jammu and Kashmir, Uttar Pradesh’s Terai region, Bihar, Jharkhand, West Bengal, and parts of Odisha may experience light rainfall. Additionally, Chhattisgarh, southern Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, Konkan and Goa, Gujarat, coastal Karnataka, Kerala, certain districts of Tamil Nadu, and the Andaman and Nicobar Islands might also witness mild showers.

Mark your calendars for these dates: Himachal Pradesh might see rainfall around August 14, Uttarakhand on August 17, Punjab, Haryana, and Western Uttar Pradesh on the 14th, with heavy downpours in separate locations. Additionally, a heavy deluge is also likely in different parts of Uttarakhand on August 14.

Monsoon outlook for eastern India

Around August 15, widespread light to moderate rainfall is predicted in the Sub-Himalayan region of West Bengal and Sikkim, with heavy showers in certain spots. Meanwhile, on the 16th and 17th of August, the Ganges West Bengal area is likely to experience rainfall, and from the 15th to the 17th, Odisha and Jharkhand could encounter heavy rainfall. Moreover, the Andaman and Nicobar Islands might witness intense showers from August 14 to 16.

Recent rainfall

Recent days have seen light to moderate rainfall, coupled with heavy showers in certain locations, across Himachal Pradesh, Eastern Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, and South Tamil Nadu. Similarly, Eastern Uttar Pradesh, Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh, Southwestern Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, coastal Karnataka, Kerala, and coastal Andhra Pradesh have experienced light rainfall.

As India navigates through this monsoon season, residents and travelers are advised to stay updated on the changing weather conditions in different regions and take necessary precautions.
