Kedarnath: The Meteorological Department issued an alert for Kedarnath Yatra for 2 to 3 days given the possibility of heavy rain and snowfall in the Himalayan region. District Magistrate Mayur Dixit stated that the alert has been issued while keeping in mind the safety of pilgrims.

He said, “Till the weather is fine, the passengers should stay at the same place and travel intermittently.”

He added, “All the passengers should take special care of their safety and cooperate with the district administration by following the guidelines issued by the state government and the district administration.”

He stated that there is currently constant snowfall at Kedarnath Dham and that the yatra is under control. Passengers from Sonprayag are not permitted to travel to Kedarnath after 10:30 a.m.

ANI tweeted and confirmed the information, “Due to bad weather and snowfall in Kedarnath, the registration of pilgrims for Kedarnath has been stopped till tomorrow 3rd May. The decision regarding registration will be taken keeping in view the weather conditions: Rudraprayag DM, Mayur Dixit Registrations are being done only for Badrinath, Gangotri and Yamunotri Dham at the Passenger Registration Center located in Rishikesh.”

The statement issued released by IMD reads, “The weather is expected to remain bad in Kedarghati for the next week. On the alert of the Meteorological Department, the state government has stopped the registration of the visit to Kedarnath Dham. The heavy snowfall in Kedarnath has created difficulties for the administration.” “Registration of pilgrims for the Kedarnath pilgrimage has been stopped in view of the snowfall of three to four feet on the Kedarnath pedestrian route and Dham and the warning by the Mete Department.”
