IIT Madras campus placement strike rate the best so far; 80 % job seekers get offers

It is raining job offers at IIT Madras, which has reported 100 percent placement of its entire class of 61 management graduates during the campus placement held over the past few days. In fact, the premier institution recorded its highest ever number of jobs offers received during a campus placement session in any academic year.

In all, 380 companies participated in the campus placements 2021-22 academic year and offered 1,199 jobs. Other than these, students also received 231 pre-placement offers (PPOs) based on internships done by them during summer holidays. were also received from students’ summer internships. With this the total job offers number 1430, which is higher than the 1,151 job offers made during 2018-1029 This has led to a total of 1,430 job offers, which is significantly higher than the previous highest of 1,151 job offers recorded during the pre-covid academic year of 2018-19.

Among the offers, are 45 international ones from 14 companies, which is also a new record.  Further, 131 start-ups made 199 offers during the placement session. All the 61 MBA Students were also placed this season, leading to 100 per cent placement for the Department of Management Studies, IIT Madras.

The Average Salary on offer is Rs.​ 21.48 Lakh Per Annum. The Highest Salary offered is Rs two crore (USD 250,000). Eighty percent of the students opting for placements received job offers.

Highlighting the key factors driving the campus placements, Prof. C. S. Shankar Ram, outgoing Advisor (Placement), IIT Madras, said, “Placements reflect a quantifiable outcome of the value-addition to students at an academic institution. We are thrilled that our students have done exceptionally well in the 2021-22 placements that have led to record-high job offers. This is a testament to the exceptional curricular training and co-curricular opportunities received by our students at IIT Madras.”

A total of 45 international offers were made in this Phase I, out of which 11 offers came from Rakuten Mobile, Inc. Other international offers came from Glean, Micron Technologies, Honda R&D, Cohesity, Da Vinci Derivatives, Accenture Japan, Hilabs Inc., Quantbox Research, MediaTek, Money Forward, Rubrik, Termgrid and Uber.
