The Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) alliance, consisting of Congress, the Sharad Pawar-led Nationalist Congress Party (NCP-SP), and Uddhav Thackeray’s Shiv Sena (UBT), is preparing for the 2024 Maharashtra Assembly elections scheduled for November 20. These elections will be critical for opposition parties to challenge unitedly a ruling alliance consisting of BJP, Shiv Sena led by Eknath Shinde and NCP faction led by Ajit Pawar; Maha Vikas Aghadi, or MVA.
Seat-sharing talks among the MVA allies have been tough but are said to be in the final lap. Congress leader Balasaheb Thorat is likely to meet NCP chief Sharad Pawar later today to try and resolve last-minute issues. Political analysts believe that, around 50-60 seats are still being finalized, though for most constituencies a consensus has already emerged.
