Sunita Rajwar, currently enjoying the success of her recent web series Panchayat 3, has been lauded for her role as Kranti Devi, Bhushan’s wife. A graduate of the National School of Drama (NSD) in 1997, she has delivered notable performances in films like Ek Chalis Ki Last Local, Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan, Bala, and Stree. Interestingly, she dated Nawazuddin Siddiqui during their NSD days, and their breakup stirred controversy years later.

Sunita Rajwar was reportedly Nawazuddin Siddiqui’s first girlfriend, and they fell in love during their time at NSD while working on a play. However, their relationship lasted only about a year and a half before they parted ways. A significant controversy arose when Nawazuddin released his memoir, An Ordinary Life, where he disclosed that Sunita ended their relationship because he was poor. He mentioned that this revelation had a profound impact on him, to the extent that he contemplated ending his life.

In 2017, Sunita Rajwar responded to Nawazuddin Siddiqui’s claims about their breakup with a detailed note on her Facebook page. She strongly denied that money was the reason for their separation, stating, “I did not leave Nawazuddin for money. There were many other reasons for this.” She elaborated further, mentioning, “Only you know very well that our relationship started with a play and ended before just three shows of that play, because your truth had come in front of me.”
This statement from Sunita Rajwar contradicts Nawazuddin Siddiqui’s earlier assertion in his memoir, clarifying her perspective on their relationship and its end.

The Panchayat 3 actress filed a defamation case against Nawazuddin Siddiqui, seeking Rs 2 crore in damages. This legal action came after Nawazuddin responded with a counter notice, dismissing her claims and suggesting that the “Sunita” mentioned in his memoir was not her but another individual with the same name. He described Sunita Rajwar’s lawsuit as a publicity stunt.
However, Sunita Rajwar rebutted Nawazuddin’s defense by pointing out that the details and evidence in his memoir clearly identified her as the Sunita referenced in the book. This legal dispute highlighted conflicting narratives between the two regarding their past relationship and the portrayal of events in Nawazuddin’s memoir.
In response to significant backlash, Nawazuddin Siddiqui withdrew his memoir from the market. On October 30, 2017, he posted an apology on social media, expressing regret for any hurt caused to those mentioned in his book. His apology aimed to address the criticism and mend relations with those affected by the content of his memoir.
