Mumbai: A day after Election Commission froze the use of Shiv Sena name and its ‘bow and arrow’ symbol following dispute between Uddhav Thackeray and Eknath Shinde, the Uddhav-led faction on Sunday submitted three party symbols for the upcoming by-election in Mumbai’s Andheri East.
They have also submitted two names representing the Uddhav-led faction.
‘Shiv Sena Balasaheb Thackeray’ is their first choice for the name and ‘Shiv Sena Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray’ is the second.

For the symbol, the faction has asked for Trishul (trident) as its first choice of symbol, rising sun as the second option and ‘mashaal’ as the third.

On Saturday, the poll body barred both the Thackeray and Shinde factions from using the party’s name and symbol in the upcoming Andheri East assembly by-election.
Thackeray held the party leaders’ meeting to discuss the election symbol at 12 pm today, while the other party will do so at 7 pm.
Both the groups were asked to submit their chosen symbols to the Election Commission by 1 pm on October 10.
