Srinagar: Security forces on Tuesday recovered around 30-35 kg of IED (Improvised Explosive Device) from Khanmoh area of Srinagar.
Police said the IED was found in an orchard during a search operation in Khanmoh area of Srinagar which was launched following an input about military presence.
“On a specific input regarding presence of #terrorists in Khanmoh area of #Srinagar, a joint ops was launched by Police & 50RR. During search of Orchards area, an IED weighing 30-35Kgs recovered,” Kashmir Zone Police said in a tweet.

It added that bomb disposal squad has been called on spot.

“IED is being destroyed in situ,” the tweet added.
According to the police officers, the IED was brought to carry out some major incident. The records of terrorist organizations who have used IED earlier are being scrutinised.
The IED was recovered two days after security forces recovered magnetic IEDs from a hybrid militant in Sopore area of Baramulla district.
