New Delhi: The longest-serving monarch in British history, Queen Elizabeth II died peacefully at Balmoral in Scotland yesterday. Her demise sent shock waves worldwide and world leaders started sending their condolence messages to the Royal family, the British people and the entire world. She was among the most influential figures in the contemporary world and loved by people across borders.

Taking to Twitter, French president Emmanuel Macron said “her majesty queen Elizabeth II embodied the British nation’s continuity and unity for over 70 years. I remember her as a friend of France, a kind-hearted queen who has left a lasting impression on her country and her century.”

 

He also shared a picture queen without any caption to it.

 

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi reacted to her death and said “Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II will be remembered as a stalwart of our times. She provided inspiring leadership to her nation and people. She personified dignity and decency in public life. Pained by her demise. My thoughts are with her family and people of UK in this sad hour.”

In a separate tweet, he shared pictures of himself with queen Elizabeth II from two different meetings.

He wrote, “I had memorable meetings with Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II during my UK visits in 2015 and 2018. I will never forget her warmth and kindness. During one of the meetings she showed me the handkerchief Mahatma Gandhi gifted her on her wedding. I will always cherish that gesture.”

The International Cricket Council also mourned the death of beloved queen saying “Our thoughts are with the people of the UK following the death of Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II.”

Former US president Barack Obama issued a long statement on the death of queen. He said “Like so many of you, Michelle and I are grateful to have witnessed Her Majesty’s dedicated leadership, and we are awed by her legacy of tireless, dignified public service. Our thoughts are with her family and the people of the United Kingdom at this difficult time.”

US President Joe Biden and his wife also issued a statement on the death of queen Elizabeth II and said “Our statement on the death of Queen Elizabeth II.”

Ukraine President, whose country is in war with Russia, took to Twitter and said “It is with deep sadness that we learned of the death of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. On behalf of the Ukraine people, we extend sincere condolences to the @RoyalFamily, the entire United Kingdom and the Commonwealth over this irreparable loss. Our thoughts and prayers are with you.

During her reign spanning over seven decades, 15 Prime Minister in Britain served under her monarchy latest being Liz Truss who was recently appointed by her for the top job.
