Varanasi: The World Health Organization (WHO) has declared Mpox a global health emergency. Varanasi health department has jumped into action and heighten its alert for the infectious virus. District Health Officer Dr. Sandeep Chaudhary said that monkeypox is a viral infectious disease transmitted through physical contact with infected individuals. Symptoms of Mpox include fever, headache, back pain, muscle pain and body rashes.
Dr. Chaudhary stated that special teams have been set up by the Health Department to identify the cases of Mpox and treat those with its symptoms. Meanwhile, he has urged the public to avoid maintaining close contact with infected people, follow hand hygiene and isolate themselves from the affected ones. Additionally, he said that vaccination is also recommended for prevention of the disease.
Health Department Sounds Alarm
At present, all health centers and hospitals in Varanasi have been notified to monitor cases of mpox. The health department has requested to immediately report any suspected cases related to mpox to ensure timely intervention and management of the outbreak.
Preventions
Do not maintain touch with the infected people. Separate yourself from others, avoid contact with pets and stop going out unnecessarily. Talk to your local doctor for any health guidelines on the viral disease. Use alcohol-based sanitizer or soap after touching open tissues. To prevent the transmission, use pads or clothes to cover the infected areas.
Treatment
There is no such scientifically proven treatment to cure Mpox. However, recovery is possible if a person has no skin-related problem and has a stronger immune system.
