The eagerly awaited Mahindra Thar Armada (5-door) is gaining momentum in India with frequent updates. The new Thar 5-door is set to launch on August 15th in India. Recently, the interior of the new Thar was unveiled. Production-ready models of the Thar have been spotted, featuring an easily visible cabin. According to sources, the new Thar could come equipped with a 1.5-liter, four-cylinder diesel engine, the same engine that currently powers the 3-door Thar. Introducing this engine in the new Thar could potentially lower its price.
Reports suggest that the cabin of the new Mahindra 5-door will be entirely black, enhancing its premium feel. It appears exactly like the current Thar’s cabin. The new Mahindra 5-door could feature a single-pane sunroof and a hard top variant with removable panels. It will be based on the ladder-frame chassis of the current Scorpio-N, constructed from solid steel, ensuring the new model remains robust. Notably, the current Thar does not offer the convenience of a sunroof.
The new 5-door will receive a 1.5-liter diesel engine delivering 117hp power and 300 Nm torque, similar to the current Thar. However, this engine will be tuned differently for the new model. Additionally, the 5-door may also offer a 2.0-liter turbo petrol engine and a 2.2-liter turbo diesel engine.
Furthermore, it will come with a choice between a 6-speed manual transmission or a 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox. The 5-door model may also feature options for both 2WD and 4WD configurations.
The 5-door car will include features like airbags, anti-lock braking system, and other safety features to enhance its safety. This time, the company will also integrate advanced ADAS (Advanced Driver-Assistance Systems) technology into it. The 5-door model may also offer options for both 2WD and 4WD configurations.
According to sources, the company has not yet started official bookings, but some dealers have begun unofficially accepting orders. Orders up to ₹25,000 are being acknowledged. It is reported that the price of the new Thar could be up to ₹3 lakh higher than the current model. The price of the new 5-door Thar could start from ₹18 lakh.
